lots of things...lots of pictures

critin'

so i made it back from the east coast in time to do 3 races in 2 days before i got to take a break. saturday was a track race that i didnt really care about. i was there to spin my legs a little and then do a team sprint, but candi heckled me into racing the omnium. it was ok. i didnt try to hard finished 3rd and got to do some riding with dean tracy.

that night was the mississippi crit. it was kinda my first real crit ever. i didnt a 4/5 crit like 3 years ago and rode off the front and did a race at the pittsburgh oal on a borrowed bike the week before, but this xwas different. like a psycho fast 8 corner crit with gravel, 2 way racing, pot holes of death, flaming rings, jumps, a loop and clowns. well some of those things. it was fast and dangerous and brian had a bad feeling about it, so i told him that if i got a bad feeling, i would quit. with about 3 to go i got a bad feeling, so i quit. there was totally a crash that i might have gotten myself into right afterwards, too. i definatly got what i needed outof the race tho.

what dean thinks about me and this crit

the next day was the alpenrose heartbreaker. i raced the madison, keirin and points. daryl and i finished 3rd in the madison. i got 4th in the keirin final. and 3rd in the points race. kenny wiliams unfortunaly broke his collar one in the points race, but still managed to win it.

i then took a break for a few days and proceeded to be totally ill for the whole week. im in the bay area now feeling a little better. i went to the track today and did some madison practice to get ready for the heller avc.

t-town, philly, pittsburgh

t-town was super fast. i had a really good time. saturday i went to the track early to watch my friends race, but our car broke down on the turnpike 20 miles from the track. some who was already at the track came and picked us up, but by the time we got there donovan and matt were to late to register. we stayed at the track and rode around for few hours till it was time to get ready for my races. it was the season opener of the world series on bicycling. there was a decent amount of money up for grabs here. lots of premes. i was nervous before race time and i had been in the sun all day and felt a little zapped.

i managed to win a couple premes. my biggest mistake of the night was after winning a 50 lap preme and had a big gap i sat up to get on the crazy fast train that would inevitably catch me. i figured it was better to wait and get on then stay out and get spit out the back when they caught me. WRONG! as soon as i got caught by the field they rang the bell for 100 followed by 200 dollar lap premes. had i stayed out i could have hung in, but i would have been done for after that. which would have been fine since there was only 5 laps left in the 48 lap scratch race and i didnt get in the last move to place in the money anyhow. i then proceeded to shotgun 4 beers in the infield immediately following the races.

tuesday was another pro 1/2 night. the first race was a very physical miss n out. i ended up get boxed in real good by bobby lea towards the end by i had already done some good boxing in of others myself. i raced a madison later that night. it was fun. i was a little under partnered but i was excited to do one at t-town. i was invited to come back anytime and offered places to stay. i was surprised how friendly it was there.

my time in philly was super fun. lots of fake meat chinese, tofu hoagies, good friends, crazy adventures, drinking, rooftops, cuddling, sleeping in. i really like it there. i wanna go back soon.

i got to pittsburgh wednesday evening. after 5 hours in a car. i went to the oval, borrowed a road bike, forgot my jersey and "raced" a crit with no warm up in a t-shirt. i didnt contest the sprint because teds cassette was toast and if i got on the the gas a little bit it skipped hard and i didnt want to crash. it was a good to spint the legs out and ride with steevo and steve.

now im going to see dinosaurs with my mom and little sister. it gonna rule!

there

i made it to philly. i raced at t-town on tuesday night. national champions, olympians, generally super fast dudes. 34 person field. i had 4 races that night. the first was a blazing 5 lap scratch race. i ended up pulling a 4th place. i figured that would be my best placing of the night. next up. 30 lap points. i sat in on the 1st points sprint and countered with a group of about 7. next points sprint i won and got a gap. my friend woody bridged up to me and we drilled it off the front for the majority of the rest of the race. i ended up winning that one. the next 2 races i finished with he feild and i felt a little bit more marked but it was a really good night. really fast. i got complemented by jakie simes III and marty nothstein and invited to race on friday(which i was going to do anyhow.)

the friday race has been postponed til saturday so it looks ill be skipping the sequoia show in pittsburgh to race. on a positive note ill get to see some of my friends race saturday afternoon and see the pro race in philly on sunday.

oh yeah and they butchered my name in the results: http://www.thevelodrome.com/PDFs/6.-2Pro-am.pdf
